April Fools’ Day, which sometimes called All Fools’ Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year.

Its beginnings are uncertain but many see it as a celebration that relates to the changing of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar.¬† Perhaps there’s something about the change of season and the time of year, as we move from winter to spring, and the brighter mornings bring with them these light-hearted merriments.¬† Practices include sending someone on a fool’s errand, creation of a fictitious story, looking for things that don’t exist, playing pranks and trying to get people to believe ridiculous things.

Are you planning to April Fool someone?

With April Fools’ Day being on a Saturday are you in the clear?

Well here are the 5 things that you need to think of when pranking someone:

1.Select your target wisely

2. Choose your counterparts carefully – as loose lips sink ships

3. Planning and preparation are key to good April Fools

4. Execute the plan with military precision

5. Do not brag about the April Fool Рbecause after the event you will become the No1 target and remember ‘revenge is a dish best served cold’

Here are the details of an elaborate prank that Steve Preston (MD of Heat Recruitment) played on Marcus Granville (Director of Heat Computing):

To set the scene Marcus was driving on the continent and was unsure if he had breached the speed limit, camera flashed, whilst converting KMPH into MPH.  It turned out that he hadn’t breached the speed limit but this did not stop Steve and Will (previously a good friend of the April Fool victim) from exploiting his worries and concerns.  They hatched a plan.  The plan involved creating a letter to represent that of a speeding fine, purchasing a web address, building a web landing page and finally, executing the delivery of the letter on the morning of April Fool.

So, image you opened the following letter – what would you do?

april fools letter work Once Marcus had read the letter he immediately logged on to www.euborderfines.co.uk and as the French say Voila! the April Fools’ prank had been delivered.

We would love to hear your April Fools’ and what you get up to or have you been the victim of an April Fool – either way have a fab day, enjoy the merriments and let us know the goings on.
